The family of Frank Thomas

Wilhelmina Tratbar
Frank Thomas and Wilhelmina Tratbar married in Germany before they came to the U.S. around 1883. The story goes that they had 10 children in Germany before they came to America and 10 more after they moved here. Only seven survived their youth to live into adulthood. Some died in infancy. They lived in the Hammonton andWilliamstown, NJ areas and raised dahlias commercially.

Elizabeth Thomas (top right) was born in 1880 and is the great grandmother of George Beu who created this site and lives in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Elizabeth was born in Germany in 1880 and came to the U.S. on the last sailing ship when she was about 3 years old. Photo was taken in Philadelphia at Applegate's at 8th and Vine.

Wilhemina Thomas Curletti (daughter of Frank Thomas, Jr and his wife Sadie) and her daughter Mina. The younger Mina later married a fellow by the last name of Valentino and had a daughter, Donna. Wilhemina's second husband was Roy Bentley from Hammonton.

The identity of this young woman is unknown. Any ideas? Martha I's daughter Martha and her first husband, Johnny Jones, September 9, 1944. Her second husband's name was Jim Beck.

Frank Jr., Wilhelmina, and Frank Sr. at home in Berlin, N, said to be just behind the school. This isn't actually their home, though. They thought the neighbor's house looked better, so they went there to have family photos taken. Their home was at 41 Haines Ave. in Berlin, NJ.

House next door to the Thomas home in Berlin, NJ. Many of the family photos were taken in front of this house because they thought their own house wasn't attractive enough to be in the family photos!
