Callahan Family Photos

This is the William and Katherine Callahan family home at 613 South Oakes Street in Tacoma, Washington. At one time there was a large garage in the back yard. William's father-in-law, Daniel Le Betta Dean lived there with his wife Harriet "Hattie" Sawyer Dean for some period of time. The picture of a large group of people sitting around a dining table was taken here. To see that photo go here. The house still stands, though it has been broken into about four apartments.

Kathleen "Kay" Doles identified the people as: Marion Donohue; Katherine Dean-Callahan; Inez Dean-Marshall; Barbara McCafferty; John Marshall; Gertrude Dean-Mills/Rhodes; Doris Marshall-Knox, Inez's daughter, Kathleen's sister; Patrick Donohue; Larry Donohue; and Marshall Knox, son of Doris Marshall-Knox, and grandson of Inez.

Bernice died after being a long term resident of Western State Hospital in Stelicom, Washington. Here is a copy of her death certificate.

This is Kathryn "Kitty" Callahan, daughter of Franklin Dean Callahan who was a brother to my maternal grandmother Bernice Callahan. Dean, as he was known, died in a boating accident in Puget Sound.

This photo was taken in the living room of 613 South Oakes.

William Callahan was a trolly conductor for quite some time, in Tacoma. The street car on the right served the Point Defiance route. I don't know which of the two trollies was the newer model.
