My father, Otto Bruce Beu, met my mother, Barbara Joy McCafferty in San Francisco, shortly after being discharged from the U.S. Navy. Barbara's mom's and dad's families have their own sections on this site. To find out about Bruce's family, click here.

They married (see wedding certificate) on September 2, 1949 and moved to Tacoma, WA where I was born October 6,1950. I was the first born grandchild of Otto George I and shortly after my birth we moved to the Haddonfield/Audubon/Haddon Heights, NJ area where my father had grown up. My sister Katherine Dean Beu was born in Camden, NJ, January 28, 1952. We lived around there for several years and I attended Audubon Elementary for the first few months of kindergarten. We left Audubon in November of 1956 right after the birth of my sister Frances Elizabeth while I was in kindergarten. The reason for the move was so we could live with my mother's grandfather, William E. Callahan, at 613 South Oakes Street to care for him during his declining health.

Bruce and Barbara divorced in 1962 and Barbara went to San Francisco to find a place for us ( George, Kathe, and Fran by her marriage to Bruce) to live. Due to a lot of circumstances, we wouldn't see our mom until October of 1984, when we were reunited with her while she was living in Portland, Oregon. At that time we also met our half brother Joey and half sister Maria. Their last names were Ortizi. Maria changed her last name to Callahan around 1996. Barbara was killed in an automobile accident in Beaverton, Oregon in May of 1994.

Bruce was in a relationship with Bessie Mae Lewis in Philadelphia and together they had a son, Neal, who lives in Philadelphia. Bruce died in 1988.

Kathe moved to Portland from Philadelphia and lived there until she returned to Haddon Heights, NJ to take care of our paternal grandfather's second wife Mildred Beu, (nee Battersby) in 1997 or so. Mildred died in January of 1999.

Kathe is now an itinerant nurse and Fran lives in Philadelphia. Maria and Joey live in Portland, Oregon.
